New microscope for the research department of the University Hospital Halle

The foundation has provided the laboratory of the University Hospital and Polyclinic for Pediatrics and Adolescent Medicine Halle with a modern microscope with camera function for around 17.000 euros.

Under the direction of Prof. Dr. Martin Staege, it will thus be possible to work to a greater extent on research into childhood and adolescent cancers from 2020 onwards. The new microscope is equipped with a camera so that the microscopic images can be easily presented to larger groups of people. This is connected via a notebook so that results can also be shown on larger screens.

At the same time, this system can also be used for public relations work. Among others, the association for the promotion of children with cancer Halle (Saale) e.V. benefits from this system - Prof. Dr. Staege regularly participates in association events and thus enables the presentation of research results and introduces the microscope to interested people. Thus, for example, children can view a cancer cell, which is visible under the microscope, on a large screen or on the computer.
